Options for your benefits

On this page you can find out about all the options you have for your Fund benefits.

In the UK, you have access to a range of retirement options, offering flexibility to meet your needs in retirement but not all these options are available through the Fund, as the Fund was set up before some of these options were introduced in 2015.

Your Fund options

If you have DC benefits only

If you joined the Fund after 1 January 2000, you will only have benefits in the DC Plus section.

If you have DB benefits only

If you were a member of the Fund before 1 January 2000, you may have built up a DB pension.

If you have DB and DC benefits

If you joined the Fund before 1 January 2000 you may have DB and DC benefits, known as “hybrid” benefits.

If you don't know

If you don’t know:

what kind of benefits you have in the Fund; or
your Normal Retirement Age, or Selected Retirement Date for DC benefits

Things to consider

Retirement options outside the Fund

You will need to transfer your benefits out of the Fund and into another pension arrangement to access these options.

Model your retirement options

Depending on what kind of benefits you have, you may have access to modellers to help you estimate your retirement income.

Your DC benefits

These can be found on Fidelity PlanViewer’s home page when you log on, and on the “Planning & Guidance” and “Tools & Calculators” tabs. (They can also be accessed via https://retirement.fidelity.co.uk/ without the need to log on to your PlanViewer account.)

Your DB benefits

We are introducing a secure online modeller for people with DB benefits who are over the minimum retirement age (55 for most people). This modeller will use your personal information to show you illustrations of the retirement options available to you inside and outside the Fund. Starting later this year, when you receive a retirement pack or transfer value illustration, you will also get access to this online modeller.

Retiring early because of ill health

If you become permanently unable to work because of ill health and you can provide medical evidence, you may be able to take your benefits before your Normal Retirement Age.
